Today concludes 2023, a year that felt longer compared to the rapid pace of 2019-2022. It’s a fitting time to look back on the past year and anticipate the possibilities that 2024 holds.
A Year Marked by AI Advancements
2023 saw ChatGPT turn one, with AI increasingly influencing both our professional and personal lives. Platforms like GitHub, various podcasts, and Product Hunt constantly demonstrate AI’s daily progression.
Though I’m not an AI developer, my aim is to become an adept AI user. I renewed my subscription to ChatGPT and am eager to explore new models, platforms, APIs, and more. I’m on a quest to find reliable AI-enhanced services in areas such as:
- Email Assistance
- News Curation
- Coding Support
- Everyday Life Assistance
- Educational Aid for Kids
Returning to My Roots
As an H1B visa holder, planning a trip back to China has been challenging due to visa issues and COVID-related policies. But in the summer of 2023, I finally managed to return home. I reconnected with family, relatives, and friends, visiting Beijing, Chongqing, Chengdu, Nanjing, Suzhou, and Shanghai. This journey allowed me to cherish time with many significant people in my life.
China continues to develop rapidly, though not without its challenges. It remains a favorable place to live and work, especially without excessive pressure. I hope for easier travel for those in situations like mine, allowing free movement between nations.
With less worry about my work status, I began contemplating my next career move.

My Child’s Step to Middle School
My kid is a pre-teen now. How fast time passed.
Welcoming a New Pet
The new pet changed my life. She is just 9 week when we adopted her. And she is so active and change my routine a lot.
Overcoming COVID Twice
Unexpectedly, I contracted COVID twice. The impact felt different than other illnesses, prompting me to start a daily exercise regimen.
Health is important to all other activities. And sleep well is the energe source of next day.
